3.3a Empower Educators

Within the first standard of Empowering Leader is to exercise professional agency, build teacher leadership skills and pursue personalised professional learning. The mission statement encompasses the mandate of the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, where I am a member of the academic staff. See image below.

The Teachers’ Training College has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training to ensure that students, teachers, other educators and aspiring educational leaders are given the necessary educational training, not only to enhance their pedagogy but to foster the development of leadership competencies, which engage in professional learning communities.

Through embracing the use of technology and applications such as Microsoft Teams to conduct meetings, it allows streamline communication, enhances efficient collaboration, increased accessibility, improves time management and provides opportunities for educators to discuss, share and enhance their pedagogy.
